The day’s light dims
shadows growing from Wild calla
shooting out among the Nymphaeaceae
how cursed is the ombrotrophic vegetation
for the cacodemons shifting soils in the night
O’ how this blaspheming force
still grows fen without nutrients within
Its too late
exhaustion is severe
his body drops
claws tighten
muscles taut, tendons strain
Begin to tear
Sound of pain | Sound of rain
O’ how the cloud-fed flora sings of mirth
To sleep in saturation
No pulse. His skin removed like muskrat pelt
no disturbance but the shallow waves
from rain accumulating in the pools
Then a clarion call

Ring of Moss

Demonic presence
In stagnant water now undulating
Crack of whip
The unfurled vines rope your limbs
Fall victim-limp to oversized insectivores
Vegetation imp
seizure of all autonomy
Pulled to submerged earth
Circled in bathed green and lathered muck
Water begins to seep over you
There – your body - quartered
In a Ring of Moss
Each piece of you held by the tie of climbing pants
Torn flesh, sinew and snapping bone
Blood, marrow, acids and more
Combined to new floral morphologies

Beyond the breakwater
Where sphagnum blankets corpse and will
Decay of mortal pines in the acidifying peatland
Habitat manipulation by water expelled from its cells
Hornworts proliferate among other bryophytes
Seen here among thallus and lichens
The fungi covers something wicked
Creatures of algae, demons in waterlogged green
Between strands of climbing plants
A sublime cloning malignance
Saber-like limbs dressed in cilia
Sprites of a perfect form
Rise from bog and blood
Feasting with horrid, corporeal habit
Yet, its own photosynthesis holds the pace

Quaking bog to the west
Lines the shore of an acidic lake
Ancient sedimentation left to rest
floating mat, towering pillar of uncorrupted green
Raising fear with every inch
Four thirsting eyes jut
contracted pupils hide behind nictitating membranes
at last, the lowering of distended jaws
Once past the olden birch
alas past the point of return
Botanical tyrant
Fungal lord of decay and death
at last, the lowering of distended jaws
blood and saliva percolating among a darkening ooze
that pours out from beyond the second line of teeth
the sputum befouls the parish
and casts the folk to perdition lest they swell to perish

Treading the layers of bogland
Each step more wet than the last
The sinking body weight only tests the mossy folds
Little time before the peat-skin splits and spits
Neath the sphagnum
- tapestry of moist emerald death
Skeletal remains and sparse waterlogged carrion
The bog indiscriminately devours
Humanity,
soaked and dead.

Through the bogland we travel
By the night’s dark haunted curtain
There’s no light but vengeance we carry
In guidance for the ritual
We bind you to the orb and curse your epoch
With slits clawed across your chest
We drink the blood of the alien
A silence falls across the mangrove to hear the yells
Spellcraft stirs
Like the whirl of blood and stagnant water
the sounds of an old, extreme prejudice
But ancient eyes split through the chrysalis
Witness our metamorphosis
There’s death in the midnight air
The swamp reeks of hatred for human blood
Corpses of the many fallen across the blanket mire
For you see, divinity is made in perdition
And perdition is anthropogenic
From the shadows we walk
In the darkest hour filled with hate
The nightmare of earth is here
The desecration of arid lands
Join the hunt for the humans
